Sailing the high seas is not for the faint of heart. One day may bring a storm at sea; the next day may find the ship slipping into the doldrums as the wind dwindles to nothing. Fuel, water, and provisions can run out.

And then there are the sea creatures. In the course of his South Pacific voyage, Boris battled a giant sea turtle, a killer eel, and numerous sharks.

Boris and Shirley also had to battle with other circumstances. There were financial pressures that more than once seemed about to scuttle their expedition. There was an ominous kidney stone attack that threatened to disable Captain Boris in mid-voyage. And how could they safely plan for Shirley's pregnancy at sea?

In the end, the battle was with themselves, and Boris and Shirley won, surmounting all obstacles within and without to pursue their impossible dream.
