Biography
One of North America's most captivating professional inspirational and motivational speakers, Captain Boris King is a man molded by challenge, adversity and change. His entrepreneurial spirit paved the way to become successful in real estate, marketing, retail and the charter yacht business. His latest project was writing the adventure story, The Unsinkable Spirit, now offered for sale at major book stores or online www.theunsinkablespirit.com Boris was raised in a poor hard working Croatian family that struggled to survive after World War II. Boris' father left five children at home causing them to plunge into deeper poverty, while he went back to school to ensure the family would never be hungry again. In the four years Boris' father lived on campus he went from a pre-war grade four education to earning a Degree in Economics. Boris' memories of poverty as a small child never left him. Today, he is committed to helping others. Immigrating to North America at the young age of 17 with only $30 in his pocket, Boris knew only two words of English. Dedicated to continuous learning, he quickly progressed through the labor ranks and upward. Even though he barely spoke English he was soon successfully selling real estate. However Boris expected more out of life than conventional North American success. Realizing that financial success alone doesn't make you happy, he and his wife Shirley decided to live by their dreams. Their dream was to explore the South Pacific the way the early explorers did. They set out on a three year expedition through the South Pacific, departing when their son Trevor was only 8 months old and having another child, Ryan in Australia along the way. Eventually their lifestyle became their livelihood as they started a sailing charter business. They purchased and restored two wooden classic 100-foot traditional sailing ships and ran one of the most successful charter businesses in the Caribbean. Then one day it was all wiped out from under them. In the short time it took for a devastating hurricane to pass through the Caribbean, both ships were lost. Everything they had worked for sunk into the depths of the ocean. It was not only their material loss that was so upsetting, but also the loss of their beloved ships they had labored on and loved so much. Boris made a conscious decision to set new goals much higher than before, challenging himself and his abilities to new heights to help others by sharing the knowledge he learned through his lessons in life. He became a professional motivational and inspirational speaker to help individuals and companies acquire their success. Captain Boris King inspires and motivates by using his personal stories of sailing 150,000 miles as metaphors for 360 degree success in business and personal life. He tells his story of physically fighting and surviving the hurricane and what motivated him to pick up the pieces and start over again. He uses that story plus many others - ie, running out of drinking water in the middle of the South Pacific, or the shark that never said die - as powerful metaphors for leadership, working as a team, adapting to change, taking calculated risks, dealing with adversity and realizing success in personal and business life. Boris wants to give you a hand - the hand of a man that didn't have the opportunity to get a college education, but who had vision. An immigrant, who became a laborer, who became a sales professional, who became an entrepreneur, who became an explorer and adventurer, who became a ship's captain, who sailed 150,000 miles at sea, who ran a charter business and who is now a professional keynote speaker, master motivator, and an expert in sales and success.
